Sizing, Fit & Customisation
How do I know which frame size will fit me?
We provide precise sizing information for every frame on our product pages, making it simple to choose a style that suits you. The key measurements – lens width, bridge width, and temple length – are listed so you can compare them with a pair of glasses you already own and love. This is one of the most reliable ways to gauge fit before you order.
When selecting your frame size, consider the following:
- Face Proportion – Larger lens widths create a bolder look and tend to suit broader faces, while smaller widths offer a more understated silhouette.
- Bridge Fit – The bridge measurement is essential for comfort. A bridge that’s too wide may slip, while one that’s too narrow can pinch.
- Temple Length – This ensures your frames sit securely behind your ears without feeling tight or loose.
If you are unsure, our frames are designed with timeless proportions that suit a wide range of face shapes. And, should you receive a pair that doesn’t feel quite right, we invite you to make use of our straightforward returns policy.
What are your frame measurements and how do I read them?
Our frames follow internationally recognised eyewear sizing standards, so you can be confident in finding the perfect fit. Each frame is marked with three key measurements, usually located discreetly on the inside of the temple arm. These numbers, read from left to right, are:
- Lens Width – The horizontal width of one lens, measured at its widest point. This determines how large or compact the frame appears on your face.
- Bridge Width – The distance between the two lenses, measured across the part that rests on your nose. This ensures the frame sits comfortably and aligns naturally with your facial structure.
- Temple Length – The length of the arm, measured from the hinge to the tip. This affects how securely and comfortably the frame rests around your ear.
For example, if a frame is marked 52–18–145, it means:
- 52 mm lens width
- 18 mm bridge width
- 145 mm temple length
Together, these numbers give you a precise guide to fit, balance, and proportion.
Do you offer fitting adjustments?
We do, yes.
If you'd like to arrange a fitting adjustment, which will take place at The Studio (Unit 130, Canalot Studios, 222 Kensal Road, London, W10 5BN), please get in contact to book an appointment.
Can frames be customised or personalised?
Yes, all our frames can be customised and personalised.
If you'd like to customise/personalise an order made online, please get in contact with your order details and request after having placed the order.
The level of personalisation and additional cost will be determined on an individual basis.
What if my frames don't fit properly after delivery?
If your frames don't fit properly after delivery, we'd be happy to help with a return or exchange in line with our returns policy.
Product Information & Care
What materials are used in NICO frames?
At NICO, we believe the quality of a frame begins with the integrity of its materials. Every component is chosen not only for durability, but also for its beauty, comfort, and sustainability.
- All our acetate frames are crafted exclusively from Mazzucchelli M49 bio-acetate, an innovative material developed by the renowned Italian house Mazzucchelli 1849. Unlike conventional plastics, M49 is derived from renewable plant-based sources and is fully biodegradable under controlled conditions. It offers a rich depth of colour, a refined polish, and exceptional strength, ensuring each frame feels as luxurious as it looks.
- The NICO V frames are made from premium nickel alloy, a high-grade material prized for its lightweight feel, resilience, and refined finish. This alloy allows for slim, elegant profiles without compromising on strength, making it the ideal choice for a modern, minimalist design.
How should I care for my frames and lenses?
Proper care will ensure your NICO frames retain their clarity, comfort, and beauty for years to come. We recommend the following:
- Everyday Cleaning – Use the supplied microfibre cloth to gently remove dust and smudges from your lenses. For a deeper clean, rinse your frames in lukewarm water with a drop of mild soap, then dry with a soft, lint-free cloth. Avoid household cleaners or paper towels, as these can scratch or damage the lenses.
- Handling – Always use both hands when putting on or removing your glasses. This prevents unnecessary stress on the hinges and keeps the frame balanced over time.
- Storage – When not in use, place your eyewear in its protective NICO case. This shields your frames from accidental knocks, scratches, or bending.
- Environment – Keep your frames away from intense heat (such as car dashboards, saunas, or direct sunlight for extended periods) and avoid prolonged exposure to moisture or chemicals, as these can affect both acetate and metal finishes.
Do you offer prescription sunglasses?
Yes, we do.
To order prescription sunglasses, please add your prescription details on the product page itself. Once you've clicked 'Add to cart', your details will be saved and carried through to checkout.
In the 'Add prescription details' section, we've included an option to upload a file containing prescription details. Feel free to just use this instead of filling in the fields if easier.

We can’t replace them if the following applies to your glasses:
